In the article, "Should Everyone Get a Trophy?" by Lauren Tarshis, she talked about how kids get a trophy just for showing up to team practices. Our school system decided more than a decade ago to pass kids on to the next grade regardless of how successful they were on their report card. Do you think kids should fail?
Should Kids Get Held Back?
I think kids should be held back. Its not right for kids to be passing through grades when they're not learning anything! They're not getting good education. They won't be able to get a decent job when there older.
Kids aren't that bright in this generation, we get everything handed to us. We should be held back until we know the curriculum. Everyone wants to be very successful in life, but if you don’t learn anything you won't be as successful. In high school, college or university they won’t let you pass. Were telling kids it’s okay to pass when its really not! In high school you need to pass or you will get held back. Elementary schools are telling us you can just pass even when you're getting terrible grades. Elementary schools should start failing kids when its needed. Kids get everything handed to them.
Kids are rewarded for doing nothing. Teachers are teaching them everything they need to know but children are refusing to do it. They've been passing through grades but there doing nothing. If you're too behind the teacher will refuse to catch you up because you choose to not do anything. That way you won't be caught up and it will stop you from doing good in the next grade.
Students should not have the right to drop out of high school when there 16. Thats telling kids that once they reach a certain age they can just end there life and not get a good career. They need to carry on with their education and try for success instead of slacking. if they keep working hard through high school they will get a good job make good money and live a good life.
Students will be more successful if they get failed. They will learn everything even if it takes them awhile. And if they need extra help they will be able to get it.
